Dog shot by police was a former BARCS dog

I thought I recognized the dog pictured along with all the articles about the dog shot by police at a street festival in DC earlier this week. I remember walking him numerous times several months ago while he was at BARCS. I remember that he was a sweet dog that enjoyed rolling over for belly rubs. Apparently he was pulled from BARCS by Lucky Dog Rescue and was living in a foster home. Lucky Dog Rescue has set up a memorial website for him here:

RIP little guy.

Another dog fatally shot by police

Also close to home, in Adams Morgan, DC. This dog was a foster dog, whose foster dad was probably trying to help him get some socialization. Yes, it’s bad that the dog bit another dog, but was shooting him really necessary? What’s with these policemen?

This is pretty cool, considering how much money they spend on purchasing dogs from breeders. Anything to cut down on the number of unwanted dogs is cool in my book. I just wish they weren’t so picky about the specific breeds…
